A straight is when you have five of consecutive numbers i. E., one, two, three, four and five. The best hand is a royal flush. This is so called because it consists of the 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace in the same suit.
There are usually two parts to the strategy of the game. Betting should be done sensibly. Some people make the mistake of being overly cautious and folding too soon. This will inevitably mean they will not win much and often people will be prepared for if they have a good hand.
Conversely some people may take excessive risks to prove a point to others or to themselves.
